This option decides if the LEX main window attribute list panel is shown of not. So if you want to show or hide the attribute list, use this option (or the Expand/Collapse the attribute list for the selected object button 
)
Another possibility:
Just move the mouse to the edge of the LEX window and wait for half a second. Buttons with an arrow
appears which gives you the possibility to show, hide or re-place the attribute list.
