Import

Menu options: Import

This option lets you import data from an LDIF file into the current directory. For this purpose, the LDIF Directory Import dialog is shown:

Normally this dialog immediately asks you to specify the path to the LDIF file you want to import into the directory.

LDIF is the abbreviation for LDAP Data Interchange Format - it is described in RFC 2849. LDIF files are just normal textfiles with a special syntax. Most of the LDAP commands which could be sent to an directory server in a protocol session can also be specified in such an LDIF file.

LEX supports the full LDIF standard, including Base64 encoded data input or input which is piped from external data files!

LEX can not only import LDIF data files into the directory, but also export object list data into LDIF files.

Another, faster way to open the import dialog: Open the context menu directly in the treeview panel (right mouse-click) and use the option Directory Import - LDIF:
